Bird's Creek Road Improvements

Project Update:
Update 7/19/11  Work will continue between Dunn's Market and the Blalock Ready Mix plant as crews complete utility work and grading for the road realignment at Caton's Chapel school.   Watch for trucks entering the highway near the concrete plant.

Project Description:
In 2010, the Tennessee Department of Transportation began a widening and realignment project along Birds Creek Road from Upper Middle Creek Road to Buckhorn Road in Sevier County.  This road, a heavily-traveled alternate route for local traffic, winds through the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains and provides another corridor from Sevierville to Gatlinburg.  The project includes construction of three large box culverts and major site work to realign two sections of the roadway, eliminating several narrow curves.  These areas are also being widened and better stabilized to prevent future problems with roadway sloughing.  The entire length of the roadway is also being resurfaced.
