Charles Blalock and Sons, Inc. has been awarded a $22.58 million contract by the Tennessee Department of Transportation for interchange improvements at Exit 8 of I-81. The project, located in Jefferson and Hamblen counties, with consist of reconstruction of the interchange to improve traffic flows between I-81 and US 25E (SR 32).
Update 12/21/11: Crews continue grade work along US 25E for new ramp connections. Concrete crews are also preparing footings for retaining walls and bridge piers for the new southbound on-ramp to I-81. Please watch for construction equipment and personnel along ramps and roadways. Expect brief delays.
