Project Description:As part of a national bridge improvement program, the Tennessee Department of Transportation awarded Charles Blalock and Sons a $1.1 million repair and rehabilitation contract for the West Main Street bridge over the Little Pigeon River in Sevierville, TN. This bridge connects downtown Sevierville to US-411, a major highway leading into Sevier County. Work on the bridge required reducing traffic to one travel lane in each direction while crews reinforce deteriorated structural beams supporting the bridge deck. This work required works to remove large sections of the bridge deck to access the tops of the beams. Beam repairs were achieved using a high-strength, fast setting concrete mix provided by Blalock Ready Mix, and the refinished deck was coated with a polymer-modified cement overlap provided by Delong. The project was completed in November 2011.
