The Hangar – Pathways Community Church

CITY: Sevierville
COUNTRY/STATE: TN
GEN. CONTRACTOR: Citadel Construction

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Constructed in 2010, The Hangar is the youth and student facility for Pathways Church in Sevierville.  The new facility, which includes classrooms, group gathering areas, and a gymnasium, was constructed by Citadel Construction.

During construction of The Hangar, Blalock Ready Mix used various pumps ranging from 34- to 45-meters in length to supply concrete for footings and slabs.  Because The Hangar is located adjacent to the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Airport, concrete placements were coordinated with the local airport authority to ensure that the pump booms did not interfere with airport traffic.  Furthermore, in order to proceed with interior work on the ground floor, the elevated slabs on the top floor were completed after the roof was partially installed.  Blalock pump operators carefully inserted the pump boom through access points left in the roof and used additional hose on the interior of the building to complete the pour.

In addition to concrete and pumping, Blalock Companies also provided grading and waste removal services as well as building materials for The Hangar.  This project was also the first use of Redi-Scapes blocks in Sevier County.  The blocks were used by Citadel employees to construct a small planter and retaining wall around the gymnasium entrance.  Blalock Ready Mix used a conveyor concrete mixer to backfill the wall after construction.

The official ribbon cutting for The Hangar was held on October 29, 2010.
