Project Overview

The Alcoa Highway project is part of a multi-phase improvement and realignment design for SR 115 Alcoa Highway. Work includes widening 1.69 miles of the highway and installing median barrier between Maloney Road and Woodson Drive. This calls for construction of 10 retaining walls, three bridges, and three roundabouts for arterial streets and access roads. Additionally, a greenway expansion that will eventually connect Knox and Blount County greenway systems.

Charles Blalock and Sons is the general contractor, performing all road, bridge, and retaining wall construction and related grading. Blalock Ready Mix is providing pumping, rock slinger services, precast panels for retaining walls, and some concrete.
