The Tennessee Department of Transportation has awarded two additional phases of the State Route 115/US-129 Alcoa Highway project to Charles Blalock and Sons, Inc. Blalock has completed two phases of the project already, with a third section between Little River and Maloney Road estimated for completion in the summer of 2024. Phase IV of the project, valued at over $186M, will expand and realign Alcoa Highway from Woodson Drive to the Cherokee Trail interchange near the University of Tennessee Medical Center. This critical phase will improve traffic flow through the main connection corridor between Knoxville and the cities of Maryville and Alcoa, along with McGhee Tyson Airport. Additionally, Phase V will create a new alignment for Alcoa Highway between Tyson Boulevard and South Singleton Station at a cost of $159M. These phases are estimated for completion in 2027. The final phases of the project are scheduled for construction after 2028.
Charles Blalock and Sons has been awarded all the completed and current contracts for the Alcoa Highway project. For a complete summary of the project to date, please visit our project page here. For in-depth information regarding the Phase IV corridor project, please visit www.alcoahighway.com.
